Horndiplomat-New Executive Secretary of IGAD Workneh Gebeyehu has formally assumed duty On Thursday.
Earlier on November 6, during his meeting with delegates from IGAD Member States, Dr. Workneh expressed his eagerness to work for the betterment of the region. The Executive Secretary commended Amb. Mahboub Maalim for his prominent achievements during his tenure as a chief of IGAD Secretariat. The new Executive Secretary also met and held talks with Mahmoud Ali Yousouf, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Djibouti a couple of days ago.
According to Ethiopian Embassy to Djibouti, Dr. Workneh served in higher government positions including as a Foreign Minister and Transport Minister of Ethiopia over the last ten years.
