Ambachew Mekonnen(PhD) president of the Amhara region and his senior adviser Ezez Wasie confirmed dead. They were shot while in the office yesterday evening. The federal government says it is a coup attempt.

Deputy Chief of Security of the Amhara regional state Alebel Amare told the regional media that bureau chief Asamenew Tsige is behind the coup. He organized regional security forces to conduct this coup he said. according to Bbc Correspondent in the Horn of Africa Bekele Atoma Boru

The State-owned ETV just confirmed the killing of Army Chief Seare Mekonnen and another senior military official General Gezai Abera.
