Horndiplomat-President Emmanuel Macron of France has arrived in the town of Lalibela this afternoon (March 12) for a two-day state visit to Ethiopia.
Upon arrival at Lalibela Airport, President Macron was warmly welcomed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed and other high-level government officials.
PM Abiy Ahmed and President Emmanuel Macron visited the Rock-Hewn churches of Lalibela this afternoon.
It is to be recalled that PM Abiy Ahmed secured a support pledge from the French Government in Oct 2018 that would go toward restoration of the Churches.
President Macron will also hold discussions with Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed on bilateral and regional issues of mutual benefit to the peoples of the two countries.
