(Horn Diplomat News Desk)Books written by non-Somalis about Somali politics or culture have long been read  only by those with a facility  to speak English, Italian, French or Arabic.   *Getting Somalia Wrong <https://www.amazon.co.uk/Getting-Somalia-Wrong-Shattered-Arguments/dp/1842779338> by Mary Harper, the BBC Africa Editor, has turned out to be a remarkable exception to that trend. Published six years ago by the London-based Zed Books. The book has been translated into Somali, and can be downloaded from the publisher’s website <https://img2.zedbooks.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/getting-somalia-wrong_somali-edition_smaller-file.pdf>
.*Translated: You can read this book in Somali*
The late BBC Somali Service senior producer, Yonis Ali Nur, offered to
translate the book into Somali to give many non-English speaking Somalis
the opportunity to read the book by a BBC journalist who regularly visits
Somalia. “One of the many unexpected pleasures that came from writing my
book has been the response from Somalis” Mary Harper wrote in the
publisher’s website.
