Horndiplomat-Somalia’s Ocean Stars youngsters have made a history to reached CECAFA U-17 championship for the first time after edging Uganda 1-0 on Wednesday.
Somalia took the lead after striker, Farhan Mohamed Ahmed [No 11], touched Uganda goal in the 60th minute of the match. The Ocean Stars youngsters who were committed to reaching the final fought hard and ensured victory. Somalia’s keeper also saved a penalty kick in the 44th minute.
With their victory, Somalia made a history to book their place at CECAFA U-17 championship for the first time in history. Somalia will fight Tanzania in the final on Sunday.
Meanwhile the president of Somali Football Federation, Abdiqani Said Arab, commended his boys for writing a history. “I would like to thank the boys for their high profile performance. We have been able to produce these talented boys with the help from FIFA who financed our domestic youth league since 2016.
Thanks for FIFA for the assistance” SFF president Abdiqani Said Arab, said.
The president also praised the coaches who have spent much time and energy in training the boys. “Our coaches have done well” the president said.
