Somaliland: Waddani Party Calls The President to dissolve National Electoral Commission

HARGEISA (HornDiplomat)-The main opposition party of Somaliland Waddani has taken back confidence from the National Electoral Commission(NEC).The party has hit a huge allegation of misconduct and lack of neutrality against the commission.

On 20 November, Waddani has opposed the result of Somaliland presidential election; believing there was widely election fraud.Although  Kulmiye party which was won the office in the second term has denied the accusations Waddani remains its suspicion of NEC’s work.

On a statement, the party delivered to the presidency briefly explained their complaints and mistrust to NEC Similarly it accuses the commission of abdicating its role and duty to exercise protect and safeguard the sovereign will of Somaliland people through the vote of the past election.

Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi(known as Irro) Waddani chairman explicated the concept of their petition to president Muse Bihi Abdi.

“We have sent the president a message contained the weaknesses of the November 13 presidential election and the irregularities against the codes of the registration and election”.

Mr Irro has filled a contest against the victory of Muse Bihi Abdi president of Somaliland one day before the result was announced on 21 November,2017.Although he approved the outcome it was an acrimonious decision to his party and admirers.

On the other hand,Feisal Ali Warabeh,UCID opposition leader who was spoken the media as following Waddani’s statement underlined that the decision could bring internal ramification and delay of the upcoming elections in the next year.

However,the decision comes one year before the approaching parliamentary elections which is expected to be held in the country in 2019.
