The President H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi led the nation yesterday in highlighting and underpinning the need of immunizing children against fatal disease.
The Head of State underscored the importance of taking care of children hence said that “Children are dearer than everything else”.
He practically dispensed doses of the vaccines to children who had assembled to be immunized.
The exercise started simultaneously in the whole country.
He gave the sentiments during the kick-off of measles vaccination campaigns by the ministry of health development while noting that it was incumbent upon us all to take care of the health of the toddlers.
He appealed for members of the public, the clergy and all leaders at large, particularly the concerned parents, to collaborate with the health services staffers hence help in facilitating the exercise of immunizing the children.
On the other hand the minister of health Hon Dr. Hassan Ismael Yusuf gave a detailed outline of the debilitating effects that measles impacts on its victims.
He gave blindness as one example of its afflictions. He thanked the president for helping in the efforts of disseminating the needs of curbing such communicable diseases.
