Horndiplomat-The people of Somaliland have been encountering serious inflations. The dollar rate has reached unprecedented rate. The living conditions have been invariably inflated by the increase of dollar rates since the livelihood is based on Dollar currency.
On 25th January 2018, Centre for Policy Analysis (CPA) hold one of its series of Habeenka Kasmo-Wadaag (HKW) that titled Inflation is a reflection of deeper economic problems by Khadir Abdi. Mr. Khadir Abdi presented his research on the inflation, and the underlining economic factors that led to this higher inflation. He told that higher inflation is a reflection of deeper economic problems that needs to be addressed.
Followed by Khadar’s research, Former Minister of Finance Mr Mohamed Hashi Elmi, Former Governor of Central Bank Mr. Abdi Dirir, the Chairman of UCID Eng Faysal Ali, the Chairman of WADDANI Mr Abdrihman Irro, MP Sa’ed Eli Roble and the Minister of Telecommunication and Technology Dr Abdiwali Sh Abdillahi presented on their view of the recurrent inflations in Somaliland.
The Former Somaliland Finance Minister Mr.Mohamed Hashi Elmi indicating the solutions of the inflation Says
“We need our local companies to invest their own country instead of importing foreign products”
While The former governor of Somaliland central bank Mr.Abdi Dirir Abdi says ”The current economic downturn is the hyperinflation of the dollar and The Somaliland shillings, we made of that crises because we’re not produced our own products, we are purchasing
everything to US dollar and less value for our Money.”

Meanwhile, The Somaliland Minister of Telecommunication and Technology, Dr. Abdiwali Sheikh Abdilahi speaking the government’s main agendas says
“The Government boost the Khat Taxes in 50% and that’s one step forward in tackling the inflation.”
In this event the Audiences representing the different sectors of the civil society were given a chance for questions and comments.
CPA is working for the advancement of Social, political and economic analysis. CPA focuses on issue of public concern. It can be an issue of ongoing political debate or an issue that has not yet gained the attention of policy makers.
And Habeenka Kasmo-Wadaag (HKW) is a sequential and continual debate event organized by CPA with the purpose of giving space to the public to dialogue and discuss issues and matters affecting and impacting their lives such as Socio, Political and Economic Issues. It is open debate where panel chosen on government authorities, academicians, CSO’s and expertise on the area of preselected topic or policy. The audiences are given opportunity to question and comment freely on the subject of the event. Amble time is dedicated to the spectators.
The center is promoting regional Democracy, peace, Human rights, and stability through Debates, dialogues and researches.
