Dubai Camel Hospital officially opened its doors to patients recently, after a soft opening last year.
The world’s first facility of its kind, the hospital can cater for up to 20 camels at a time, with state-of-the-art medical equipment and high quality operating theatres on site to treat the camels. The new centre also boasts its own running track, for camels to rehabilitate following medical procedures.
Built at a cost of $10.8 million (AED 40m), the new facility was inaugurated last year and recently visited earlier this month by Sheikh Mohammed, Ruler of Dubai, who toured the facility with Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
