For the third time since 2012, leaders from around the world met to talk about Somalia in London earlier this month.
Somalia’s new president requested a lifting of the arms embargo on the country’s army, but Western countries worry those weapons could fall into the hands of Al Shabab and other terrorist groups. Meanwhile, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres was more worried about drought, requesting $900 million dollars in aid.
We talk with Ahmed Samatar from Macalester College about attempts to build a positive future for Somalia.
